Join us May 18th 2024, during World Orienteering Week, at Challenger 7 memorial park!

For the first time Houston Orienteering Club will be participating in this worldwide effort, World Orienteering Week, by hosting an Orienteering meet in May! We’ve decided to host a Score-O type competition, which is a first for us at Challenger 7 too, where we usually hold point-to-point Orienteering competitions in the fall.

Payments and signed waivers must be received by the close of online registration May 16 2024 at 8:00 PM.

There will be no payments or waivers accepted at the event. Maps are printed based on online registration numbers.

DETAILS

Type – Score-O
Course Time Limit – 1 hour, each minute late is one point deduction.
Punching – E-Punch required for competitors to be eligible for awards. No E-punch required for Recreational, not scored or eligible for awards.
Map – 1:7,500, 2.5m contour interval
Terrain – An urban park with a combination of trails and open fields
Location – Challenger 7 Memorial Park, Webster, TX, Pavilion 3
Additional – Bathrooms with running water and portable toilets are available
Course: All competitors will mass start at 10am and have one hour to navigate to as many points as possible. Points are worth one, two, and three point values depending on their difficulty. Bring a watch because every minute late is a point deduction from your score. Class awards will be based on overall points, or fastest time, if multiple score all points.

• Competitive Orienteers are required to use E-Punch and are eligible for medals
• Recreational/Map Hikers are NOT required to use E-Punch and are NOT eligible for medals
• If you do not have an E-Punch (SI Card), HOC rentals may be available for $5

NEW: ONLINE REGISTRATION form on HOC website!

• All Group leaders should register all of their participants and save signed waivers as one .PDF (Do not have parents register participants)
• Leaders should arrange to pay for all of their participants at one time.
• The new HOC registration system now on our website allows teams or individuals to register, pay, and upload signed waivers. Registration details will be updated regularly and can be view on our Who’s Registered page.
• All entrants must complete a waiver prior to participation.  Any individual under 18 must have their parent/guardian sign the waiver.
• To upload signed waivers after registering, do so on our waiver upload page.
• If you need to save and resume progress on your registration later, click “Save and Resume” on the bottom of the form to receive a link to continue your progress by email.
