Course Types

Traditional Courses – Points for courses must be visited in order.  Maps are marked with a line indicating the order in which these points are to be found.  Difficulty and length of these courses will vary on course level or color.  Participants will start using an interval start separating each course color.

Score O – Points for courses may be visited in any order. All Participants will start at the same time with a mass start.

Relay – Each team member completes a traditional course and tags the next team member.  The relay is complete when all team members have completed their course.  All Participants will start at the same time with a mass start.

Variations

Night O – Variation of a traditional or score o types conducted at night.  Participants using headlamps and flashlights find their controls marked with reflective tape at night.

Street O – Variation of a orienteering map which is simplified to show roads, trails, and other major features posssibly along with elevation but vegetation or rock features will not be shown.
